If you awaken to your daily life, what are you being shown?

If you awaken to your daily life, what are you being shown?

This morning I left my home to go and see Devotion clients. As I walked downstairs, I saw there was a car parked behind mine, partially blocking my way. Both spaces either side of my car were available so I muttered to myself that it was ridiculous and annoying for someone to do that when it was clearly not necessary. When I walked closer, I saw there was just enough space to reverse weave my way out. As I was reversing out around the car, I saw a man (symbolic of the masculine in a general sense) had parked there, and had hopped back into the drivers seat to move it. As I drove, intuitive wisdom dropped in, showing me what that brief moment in time had taught me: // I could find my way, weave my path even when it seems to be blocked by the masculine – in this case, my mind, which sometimes tells me there is no other way, other than what I’m currently able to see. // If I apply my skill, I’m able to find solutions. // A reminder that there’s no need to be confined to what appears to be so, and as I continue to dissolve the outdated programs I’m currently clearing, I’m creating space to find new ways of doing life. // And if there is no obvious path and I’m patient enough, the masculine (life) will clear the way – symbolised by my new neighbour hopping back into his car to move it. Lifelong patterns I continue to evolve through are those related to the Solar Plexus, one of which is trust in life.  As soon as I got that awareness, I giggled to myself… thank -you life for this encounter that helped me to see so much. As I continued to drive (cars represent your vehicle in life and how you’re travelling, reflected by your physical body, programs, paradigms and perceptions), the roads were blocked and I needed to detour. This was the same scenario as yesterday, and as I saw the detour sign again I reached for my bag to pull out my phone to use the navigation system, though as I’d gotten into my car I’d put my bag on the backseat – something I rarely do. And so presented another poignant moment: to trust that I could navigate my way down unfamiliar roads guided by my inner navigation system. And so I did. I remembered Owl Medicine too, which has been showing up for me consistently since Saturday; Owl carries the medicine of perception and intuition, and of making the unseen visible. Owl medicine reminded me that I’d been pondering Hummingbird (which carries the medicine of spherical motion, magic, flow and unconditional love), which led me back to Vancouver; where I’d volunteered to be a part of a team monitoring flight patterns of Hummingbirds along Central and North America, which took me back to the beginning of that grand adventure and my leap into the unknown. As I began pulling the threads of awareness together, I felt the deep magic of life – both my inner and outer world – informing me. What could have been a mundane morning, transformed into an entirely luminous experience, reminding me of my strengths and compelling me forward on the path that is aligning before me. If you take a moment to pause and tune into what...

Make The Choice That Feels Right For You In This Present Moment

Make The Choice That Feels Right For You In This Present Moment

Make the choice that feels right for you in this present moment. Your choice will be based on your personal values, what you want for yourself + your life, and your boundaries in the present moment. As you develop your consciousness, your values, desires and boundaries will evolve too, to support what is unfolding for you in your life in this present moment in time. Know that your boundaries are fluid, and not set in ridged stone. As your sense of self grows, allow them to become refined too. They are a felt sense of what feels good for you and what does not, and supports how you interact with life. If your boundaries are too open, you’re likely to be leaking energy to sources that are not serving you. You may feel that life is pulling you in lots of different directions, few of which you’re wanting to travel in. If this is the case for you, close your eyes and tune in – where are you leaking energy? Trust your intuition. You’ll always know, even if the source of the energy leak doesn’t make logical sense. If your boundaries are too closed, you may feel cut off from life and sources of growth, abundance, creativity and joy. If this is the case for you, slow your pace. Invite life in. Set a solid intention to become more open to life, feel your intention in your body, and allow life to grace you with it’s magic. When you’re embodied – that is, connected to your body – you’ll feel your boundaries most notably in your heart, solar plexus and sacral chakras. Listen to your intuitive sense and the intelligence of your body. And as you deepen your connection with yourself, as you develop inner communication, you’re able to perceive and feel what is right for you in a whole new way. You may discover the choices that you made for yourself a year or so ago, or last month, have run their course and it’s time to make a new choice. And this is the choice-point, to make a new choice. The best way to do this is to trust the choice you’re moved to make in this moment is the right choice for you right now. Take the pressure off and keep it simple. Then act in alignment with your choice. This choice will lead to another, and then the next, and so on. There’s really no need to get caught up in making this present choice the right one for the rest of your life. It just needs to be the right one for now. Also, your choice doesn’t need to make sense to anyone else either. There’s no need for your choice to be validated either. So long as it feels aligned with you. Trust yourself. Be curious enough to see where your choice leads you. What your choice teaches you. Much love and soul wellness, Melissa xx Beautiful heart, lets work together. Book your 1:1 healing session here. Begin your Devotion Initiation Journey...

How to Become More Present to Your Body and Your Life in 5 Minutes

How to Become More Present to Your Body and Your Life in 5 Minutes

Anyone that has worked with me before knows that I love breath based grounding practices. They’re simple and therefore powerful in nature. They’re effective and can be done anywhere and at any time. They engage all of your senses. And as you gradually deepen your breath, you invite more of life into your body. Your lungs and the quality of your breath mirror your ability to receive the fullness of life and let go of what is no longer of value. As you inhale you receive. As you exhale you let go, creating space for what is valuable to you in your life. Your breath reflects your current emotional state. The deeper and fuller your inhale and exhale, the more present to your body and life you become, and you discover yourself in the present moment. Struggling to breathe deeply and fully? Place the palms of your hands over your upper lungs. The support of your palms will encourage a gradual deepening of your inhale. I shared the following breath based grounding practice with one of my Devotion clients this week, after she mentioned she’d been trying to become more grounded and present before her session. I know that you can do all the spiritual growth work in the world, though unless you’re grounded and connected to your body, the growth that you so lovingly invest in becomes blocked, and the pathway to embodying change and growth is impeded. This practice is also effective when you’re feeling intense emotion, to help you move through the layers, rather than getting stuck. And so…   A Simple Grounding Practice Sit, stand, or lay with your spine against Mother Earth, or the floor. Bring your full attention to your breath. Place the palms of your hands on your hips. Begin inhaling through the soles of your feet (your Sole Chakras). Imagine inhaling Mother Earth energy up through the soles of your feet and into your body. Intend for your exhale to leave your body through both the front and back of your Heart Chakra. Follow your cyclical breath; in through your feet, out through your heart. Continue for as long as you need to, becoming more present and connected to your sense of self.   Know Your Body Your hips and pelvis are the cornerstones of your body; the connection point between your upper and lower body. Your Hip Chakras provide fundamental support to your physical body, as well as your inner world, and is closely connected to our ability to move forward in life. Your Palm Chakras are supportive in your ability to give and receive, to be in reciprocal flow with all of life.  Your palms also engage with your Third Eye Chakra: how you see yourself in your world, and how you perceive the world is receiving you. Placing your palms on your hips helps to stimulate grounding and connection throughout your entire body, helping you to feel supported and in flow with all of life.   Give the above grounding practice a go now. How do you feel? Let me know in the comments below. Much love and soul wellness, Melissa xx Want to work together? 1:1 Shamanic Kinesiology sessions are available in Elwood and via Skype. Growing Beyond Comfort and Into Alignment

Growing Beyond Comfort and Into Alignment

The journey of alignment is often a courageous one. The new journey begins when you’re called to grow beyond. Growing beyond could be anything at all: it could be growing beyond the current state of how you feed your body, or how you speak about yourself, or how you relate to life, or care for your immediate and/or global environment. It could be how you care for your money, or how you respect your dreams. The call to grow beyond may feel like an internal felt sense, or life may be showing you… What patterns keep revolving? What conversations do you have on repeat (with yourself or others) that feel old? What do you hear yourself saying that doesn’t feel like truth? What are you tired of hearing yourself say? These are all calls to grow beyond, and hints that there’s higher alignment and truth waiting to be discovered. Growing beyond is expanding beyond your current experience of life, and your current knowledge of self. A dance, where you sometimes you know the steps, though more often than not, you don’t.  A continuous choice that sometimes feels like an uncomfortable and clumsy ride. And this is ok. It’s all part of the adventure. Qualities that are helpful at this point: presence, courage, compassion, trust, curiosity, faith and a willingness to learn new ways. Willingness to cultivate new skills. When you feel alignment, it feels like a missing piece has slotted into place. But before then, you flip between extremes. Between how you know to be, and a version of how you feel you would like to be. And this is why you continue to choose in the moment. Because alignment is a devotional journey. Alignment feels like a full body resonance, where your mind and body are operating at the same vibration. Where how you are and what you say and how you feel all match.  Where you feel in all of your being, whole, completely at one, and cohesive. These are the moments where you take a step back and appreciate yourself and life, where you enjoy the state of being that you’ve created for yourself. It’s this moment, where all the conscious work you’ve done to grow beyond old ways and your shadow, makes sense. It’s that moment in time that feels luminous, and contentment floods you. The moment you wake up. And soon after this miraculous alignment, if not already, your life shapes itself according to your new aligned vibration. Life applauding you for your devotion to yourself. Much love and soul wellness, Melissa...

What’s in an Acupressure Point? CV8 – Spirit Gate…

What’s in an Acupressure Point? CV8 – Spirit Gate…

What’s in an Acupressure Point? Quite literally, you have thousands of points of ‘least electrical resistance’ along the surface of your body. These portals of energy are found along Meridian Lines (within your body) and rise up close to the surface of your skin, which means they can be activated and worked with consciously to effect the quality of energy within your body. Acupressure points are spherical and holistic in nature, which means they support on all levels of health and healing: physical, emotional, and spiritual. What I love about them is that they bring you back into your body (a welcome departure from the mind) and directly influence your Nervous System, the messenger system of your entire body. Simply put: these magic portals of energy influence the quality of your days and your experience of life. Within your navel is a major integration point, CV8: aptly named Spirit Gate. Since it’s a major integration point, this portal of energy (found along your Central Vessel Meridian line)  opens up and re-calibrates your energy to match the vibrational healing remedy that is placed upon it. During Shamanic Kinesiology healing sessions, I’ll often place essences, crystals, oils, Alchemy Codes etc., directly over this point to help heal and clear patterns that are no longer in supportive alignment. And in the morning, when I woke feeling a little overwhelmed and disconnected from my body, this was one of the points I worked with. I dropped Rose Oil into the palm of my hand, then placed my palm over the point and ‘breathed in’ from the point itself. After a few moments, I felt calmly focused and re-connected to my body. Whilst your mind is incredibly important, your body is fully alive and sentient in nature. When you bring the attention of your mind into your body, you allow the magic of communion and self-knowledge to flow…   How to Work With Spirit Gate // You can work with this acupressure point in the same way I did, or by working with vibrational remedies of any kind over the point. // If you’re working with essences or oils, you can drop directly onto the point itself. // If you’d like to enhance or embody a particular emotional state, write the emotion on a piece of paper, lay down for a mini meditation, place the piece of paper over Spirit Gate and breathe in the energy of the emotion you’d like to embody . // CV8: Spirit Gate also responds really well to sound vibration, and helps to carry that vibration into the entirety of your being. // Tune into the point with your attention, and allow it to show you how it would like to support you… Remember, your body is sentient in nature, and when you tune in, it will always show you what you need. The next (and final) Communion/A Relationship With Your Body That Changes Everything workshop is happening on Sunday 12th of February 2017. Acupressure points are one of the core pathways of communion with your body, so I cover this in the workshop. If you’re feeling called to Communion, I’d love to see you there. Much love and Soul Wellness, Melissa...

The Questions I Ask Myself at The Beginning of Every New Year

The Questions I Ask Myself at The Beginning of Every New Year

At the beginning of every new year, I ask myself these questions: // What will I create? // Who will I meet? // What doors will be opened over the next 12 months? // How will I transform? // What will I devote myself to? These questions, wondrous invitations and ignitors of curiosity, always light me up. Particularly ‘who will I meet?’ because I love meeting new people and seeing how we weave into each others lives to create magic… I don’t actually answer the questions. Instead, I let my mind wander and my heart dream… The purpose of these questions is not to know, and rather to be surprised and delighted by the synchronicity of life. Because really – how can we ever know how we’re going to transform over the next 12 months, or who we’re going to meet? Invite it all in, show up, and be present to the unravelling of your life…   There are two questions I do answer in an open kind of way. ‘In an open kind of way’ is good for me, particularly because one of my shadow patterns is to grip on to life taking form in the way I know it should – right now, in this moment – which only really crushes magic and dis-respects divine timing. The unravelling of this pattern is a continuous work in progress, and this open approach flashes a beacon to the universe, letting her know what I’d like to create, whilst allowing enough space for mystery, magic, synchronicity and the infinite intelligence of the universe to course-correct my path if need be.   Question One: What will I create? This year, my intention is to create more joy in my life. It’s an open intention, so that joy can manifest in ways that will enliven my heart and blossom my life. This is an adventure I’m looking forward to taking…   Question Two: What will I devote myself to? The answer to this will always be my heart. And in a practical sense, my soul driven passions and ideas. Just before the end of 2016, I pulled out a piece of paper and scribbled down all the ideas I wanted to create or further develop, for Soul Wellness. After I culled the ‘good ideas’ that sounded good and I could see the value in, though didn’t really align with my heart, I was left with 17 ideas. And, I’m not just talking about 17 blog posts, or 17 emails to the Soul Wellness Community, which take a few hours from conception to completion. I’m talking about books, workshops, teaching, taking courses, 1:1 sessions, ceremonies + offerings, a school… Dreams that require devotion to bring into being. Slow, respectful, grounded, focused co-creative devotion.    What I’m Devoting to This Year I sat with the above mentioned list, and felt into it. // What did I feel really inspired and driven by on this list? // What did I love, appreciate and feel humbled by on this list? // What amplified my energy and stoked my fire, just thinking about it? // What ideas were catalysts for spontaneous tingles all over my body?   After becoming clear on what I truly wanted to devote myself to in my work, I was left with four core focuses: // 1:1 Sessions + Devotion Initiation...

Intentions For Another Adventure Around Grandfather Sun…

Intentions For Another Adventure Around Grandfather Sun…

This is a beautiful intention setting ritual I’ve been sharing with my 1:1 clients this week. An Intention Setting Ceremony for 2017, where you take a moment to bless your life with wishes for another adventure around Grandfather Sun.   You’ll Need Rose petals. Fresh petals will do marvellously, otherwise dried will be beautiful too. To be in nature, close to water. Yourself and your open heart.   The Ceremony Go to a body of water on NYE or NYD. Take your rose petals with you. Begin your ceremony by placing one palm over your heart space at the centre of your chest, and the other over your Sacral Chakra, beneath your navel. Close your eyes, and breathe into your body. Once your attention has settled into your body, set your intention for 2017. – What feeling state do you want to cultivate over the next 12 months? – What do you want to create? Don’t over think your intentions: allow them to surprise and inspire you. Once your intentions feels true and soul aligned, open your eyes, and breathe your intent into the rose petals three times. (Rose petals are programmable and can hold your intention, just like water.) Release the rose petals into the body of water before you: water is life, and infinite creative potential. Take a moment to thank the rose petals and body of water, for carrying your intent. At this point, you may like to offer a Water Blessing (below). Over the next 12 months, re-visit your intention often. Allow yourself to grow into who you’re becoming. Allow yourself to receive from life, easily and fully.   Water Blessing Ceremony A Water Blessing is a Shamanic practice, to honour and restore the life-giving element of water. Fill an empty glass jar or bowl with purified water. If purified water isn’t available, tap water will work well too. Program the water by holding the jar between the palms of your hands, focusing your full attention on the water. Set a clear intention, blessing or prayer, for the vitality of Mother Earths waterways and oceans. Setting your intention only takes a few moments of full active presence. When you feel ready, pour your intention charged water into the waterway before you, feeling a sense of gratitude and connection to all that is.   Much love and soul wellness, Melissa xx Want to work together? Book your 1:1 Shamanic Kinesiology session. Dancing Away The Dust Of 2016

Dancing Away The Dust Of 2016

With only a few days remaining of 2016… now is the time to savour what has been. To slow your pace and become present, if only for a few moments, and then a few more. Until you find your natural rhythm again, disconnecting from the manufactured hustle of the world around you, to celebrate another journey around Grandfather Sun. In these last few remaining days of 2016, how will you be? How will you celebrate the adventures of the year that has been?   This is the simple ritual I shared at The Gathering Circle last week. Set up your personal space so it feels special to you. A single candle might set the tone, or you may want to bring in other nurturing elements. Be creative. Keep it easeful. Place paper, coloured pencils or your favourite pen beside you. Place your hands over your heart space and breathe into your body. Bring all your attention to your internal world. Invite your mind into the practice of being. Give your mind full permission to rest for awhile. Tune into the drum beat of your own internal rhythm. Stay here breathing and letting go of the outside world for as long as you like, with full devotion to deepening into communion with your soul. From this embodied space, ask your heart: What do we want to let go of? Allow the words to come… then open your eyes, and write your list. Let it all flow. Include anything that feels like residue or dust from the growth of your year. When you feel like you’ve completed your list, place the palms of your hands beneath your navel; over your womb space (for women) or over your hara line (for men). This is the space where we store many of our hurts, grief that goes unnoticed and other blocks to creating a fulfilling and vibrant life. Close your eyes. Breathe. Drop your full attention downward. From the perspective of your womb/hara, ask: What do we want to let go of?  When you ask this question, ask with self-compassion and kindness. Then add to your list… Once you’ve completed your list, it’s time to let go with the help of the fire element, though before you burn, take a moment of presence with what you’re about to release. This is powerful liberating work, when done with a humble heart. When you’re ready, place your right hand over your heart, and say aloud: “I (insert your name), by my awakening and transformation, release…”  Then read each element you’ve written on your list. Take your time, and be patient with yourself and the emotions that may arise. Then burn the paper.   Next, it’s time to dance. Play some music you love, or that feels appropriate for the release and celebration of the year that has been. When you dance, or move your body in a way that feels good to you, do so with the intention of dancing free any energy that needs to be shaken off. And in appreciation for all the lessons and growth that has come to you over the past days, weeks, months, seasons and cycles of your beautiful life. In celebration for where you are right now, regardless of where you thought you might be at this point instead. Dance and move for as long as you like. Allow...

How To Re-Order Your Energy, For Clarity And Focus.

How To Re-Order Your Energy, For Clarity And Focus.

Recently I’ve been focusing more on my personal devotion story. One of the elements I’ve become really clear on is my desire to step more into my role as teacher. And whilst I already do this in my work, the call has been guiding me to teach in a different way. Over the last couple of months I’ve been preparing to teach the 9 Rites of The Munay-Ki (which translates to ‘the energy of love’). The Munay-Ki are a beautiful series of ancient Rites of Initiation, passed down from the Incan Shamans of Peru. Once all 9 Rites are received, you’re initiated as an Earth Keeper, accepting stewardship of the earth and your contribution to it. It is said that you will feel the call when you know it’s time to pass on the rites, and the call has been tapping my heart loudly. More recently, the 13th Rite of The Munay-Ki: The Rite of The Womb, has been gifted to the world to heal the collective womb-space of womankind. I received the rite this week and it’s effects have been powerful. I’ll be sharing more about this soon. As part of my preparation to pass on the rites, I’m embodying the principles of the Munay-Ki in a deeper and more continuous way. One of the core principles of the Munay-Ki is Ayni, which translates to reciprocity, mutualism, interchange, giving and receiving in all it’s forms. “When we enter consciously into the world of the living energy, we are in constant Ayni with the world around us” – dancingtheworlds.com This includes the way we breathe: receiving from and giving to life consciously through inhaling and exhaling. Simple, yet incredibly powerful. Engagement with personal breath has always been a core component of the healing work that I offer to others, because I know how important it’s been for me, to shift and align my energy. Conscious breathing is one of my go-to practices, and it’s particularly important for people who think a lot. The element of Air relates to thinking and thought processes, so when you actively engage with your breathing, you’re able to consciously calm and soothe your thoughts and bring clarity to your energy. Another core message of the Munay-Ki is: you are the portal. Meaning, you are the portal of change, and that your energy is the change. Once you accept responsibility for this, you’re able to alter your entire reality and the way you relate with all beings.   And so… Over the past week or two, I’ve been pondering how to bring all of this together into one simple practice so that this knowledge becomes embodied wisdom. How to more consciously be the portal. How to refine and order my thinking and energy. This is especially important because growth in personal-power, means that everything becomes amplified, and the quickening of manifestation unfolds. How to be a part of the flow of Ayni: of giving and receiving. How to breathe spherically, encompassing Mother Earth and the Universe, whilst offering my hucha (translates to dense energy) and be rewarded with sami (translated as refined energy) from Mother Earth. Hucha and Sami are a part of the principle of Ayni, and when you’re in the flow of offering hucha to Mother Earth, you work with the principles of nature and upgrade your vibration by receiving sami....

A Simple Practice for Reconnecting With Personal Power and Loyalty to Self

A Simple Practice for Reconnecting With Personal Power and Loyalty to Self

This simple practice for Reconnecting With Personal Power and Loyalty To Self, intuitively weaved it’s way into a 1:1 Shamanic Kinesiology healing session this morning. And the shifts were magnificent, beautiful, and humbling. So naturally, I needed to share the practice with you here too.   The Practice // Place one palm of your hand over the front of your Solar Plexus Chakra (above your navel) and the other palm on your back, in alignment with the front of your Solar Plexus Chakra. // Close your eyes. // Breathe into your Solar Plexus, dropping your attention down into the space between your palms. // Plant a seed of golden light in the middle of the space, and as you breathe, grow the light into it’s fullness. // This light is your personal power and as the light grows, it transforms any feelings of lack or confusion, into trust and loyalty to self knowing. // Then, bring a flower into the golden light. This represents your beauty, which your personal power blossoms into being, protects and preserves. // Keep breathing into this visualisation for as long as you would like to. // When you’re ready, come back to your body, slowly open your eyes and allow your vision to adjust, before continuing with your day.   Much love and soul wellness, Melissa xx Ready to work together? Book your 1:1 Shamanic Kinesiology session.
